My name is Ann and I was born and raised in a very small city of Punjab in Pakistan called Sargodha. I have been very fortunate for having so many blessings in my life, and although my life is not perfect right now but I would never ever trade it with anyone else’s life. My childhood was very quite and peaceful as compare to my adult life, till I went to college. After high school, it feels like God fast forwarded my life somehow and now when I look back it seems like I went through time on a time machine.
I loved the college but I had to go to another city away from my family, and that I never liked. I got my bachelors degree in Related Arts and as soon as I got admission in Masters program, my parents arranged my marriage. I was upset because my studies were not complete yet, but my father promised to support me and make sure that I have everything to complete my Masters in Housing and Interior Design from College of Home Economics, Lahore Pakistan. I had my son right after I got married, but my father kept his promise and helped me to complete my Masters When he was two years old. I love my son very much he is one of my most precious relationships and blessings from God. I am the eldest child of my parents, and since I became a parent I can understand how much they love and care about me.
I came to US when my son was five years old and loved it. What I loved the most about US was that everyone is so friendly and open hearted. I learned a lot when I came here, especially to stand up for myself and not to give up my rights. I refused to give up to people who treated me with disrespect and tortured me verbally and emotionally. That’s when my so called relationshipwith my ex-husbandgot worst; he left for Pakistan and divorced me. I believe I had to teach my son to stand up for himself by doing it myself and that’s what I did. He knows that I did try my best to save my marriage, but it did not work out. I wish and pray that he is nice and kind to his family when he grows up and has his own family to take care of.
I started working right after my divorce and left everything in God’s hands, thanks to God he took charge of my life and never disappointed me. I loved working as a Documentation Specialist and when I started working on online helps I realized that Web designing could be my new thing. I started working on different courses at NOVA, and now I am almost done with my Web Design Manager certificate. My family is so proud of me, I am thankful to them and my friends after God for being there for me in the hard times. I have a beautiful family in Pakistan and I miss them a lot. I am staying here because I know it is not easy to survive back home as a single woman, and I am hoping it will change one day. |
