In more than 60 years of its existence Pakistan has overcome a lot of challenges, but I believe we still have to go a long way to see Pakistan as our founding father Mohammad Ali Jinnah wanted to see it. Pakistan is facing the following major issues:
Poverty:
Poverty is a major economic issue that Pakistan is facing because almost one fourth of its population is considered poor. Most blame goes to poor Federal policies and corruption, but we also have to accept some responsibility. We have to contribute by volunteering our talents to train people and improve the standard of living in Pakistan. It is a fact that most problems and crimes come from poverty, but I believe that lack of education can not be ignored either.
We have to educate Pakistani people regarding women’s education and convince them to work with men in every field to reach our goals to make Pakistan a developed country. Also, Pakistani People have to divert their attention from few professions to new and in demand professions. According to World Bank reports and suggestions we have to help the government to create productive opportunities, take risks and invest money in more projects to help create more jobs. We have to make sure to empower women to gain more productivity, reaching the ultra poor to involve them in positive activities to stop them from becoming a target of frustration and abuse.
Employment:
Unemployment issues in Pakistan are also a huge part of poverty and economic crisis. Educated individuals are not getting proper jobs which is discouraging the rest of the public to invest their time and money in education of their children especially girls. Not only Pakistani government should encourage small businesses to create jobs, but Pakistanis should also come forward to take chances and invest in small businesses to keep the money rolling. Making technical training accessible to the kids after high school and guidance counselors to guide the kids in the right direction before the situation gets out of control can be a solution to this problem.
Education:
I believe that easy access to proper education to everyone is the only way to solve a lot of problems that Pakistan is facing these days. According to a report this neglect of education is costing Pakistan a whole lot than we realize at this point and we have no choice but to overcome this major issue at any cost. According to the report, “30% children of primary school going age are not enrolled. At secondary level 60% kids are not in school. University level participation rate is less than 3%.” Basic education hurdles are:
- Weak parental participation
- Lack of basic facilities as classrooms, toilets, blackboards, furniture andqualified teachers
- Irresponsibility and inefficiency of services providers
- Lack of quality service providers
Honor Killings of Women in Pakistan:
Killing women in the name of honor has been a part of this region for a long time, especially in the rural areas. “Honor killing” is defined as the killing of a woman by the hands of her immediate male family member.
