About Me

I consider myself the human excuse for a Rhino. You got a problem with that?
I was born in Kansas City, Missouri in the early 80's. With my father being a Marine, we moved around quit a bit. Finally we came to settle in Northern Virginia. Being the son of a marine and a social worker, I was raised with an eye for the end game. Ya know, the question about weather the rock hit pitcher or the pitcher hit the rock. End story: The pitcher is busted! If I want to learn something, it is because I want to do something.
I learned wood working with my father because I wanted to be able to make things. I learned web design because I wanted to be able to make web pages. Once agian, end result. I wanted "a", what will it take to achieve "a"? It takes "C" "D" and "E"? Great, lets get started. It's always been that view that has shaped my life's perspectives. Bottom line it. Period. If I slice my leg open, bottom line: I'm bleeding and I need to deal with it. I've dealt with that issue? Good. Now I can move on.
Guess what? You're in the 'about me' section. Here you will find out a little bit about me (you are being warned to run away now), a little about my history and about why I chose to cover the areas of interest I did on this web site.
Warhammer has been one of my interests for nearly twelve years. I discovered it while buying a plane model. In the store, I found a large table surrounded by people. The table was covered with game pieces and the discussion taking place identified it as a strategy game. My attention was immediately drawn to a hulking robot model ( I later learned that it was called a dreadnought). It turns out that the majority of people involved in the hobby are not only willing to answer questions, but encourage them. One of the players noticed my interest and started providing information and explanation. A few weeks later I got my hands on a starter set and my first army book. Since then have continued my involvement and learned that the game spans three continents and involves thousands of players. Now, twelve years later I have built thousands of models and completed hundreds of conversions on other models.
My involvement with comics has been somewhat more varied. I started making one-page comic strips while still in elementary school. I worked with friends and we based them on various action movies. Truthfully, it was by chance that my interest evolved into anything bigger.I had gotten into the MMORPG City of Heroes©, and with several friends, started developing a story involving most of the characters we had created for the game itself. When NCsoft announced a contest to create a six page comic for City of Heroes, I was very drawn to the challenge. The winner would receive an assortment of prizes. Following some research for additional information, I began work on my entry. The result was a small comic which tied into the larger story I had already written. I placed fourth but understood why when I saw the first, second and third place winners. They were really good! I was pretty surprised when there was a small, but vocal outcry that my entry had not placed in the top three spots. This spurred me on to continue making comics. I have continued to write, and with each issue I've explored new techniques and new programs to achieve different effects and levels of control.
My interest in and development of Web designs is a bit easier to explain and more direct in it's evolution. While in the seventh grade, my school started to create a web site. The school turned to a computer savvy librarian for guidance, and he collected a team of students to work on the project.I was one of those students. While my work on that particular website was limited to collecting and scanning photographs, it did spark my interest. Following that introduction, my free time was spent learning the school's software, Microsoft Front Page. From then on I tinkered with web pages in one form or another for a number of years, but it was little more then a hobby. In 2008 I returned to school to work on my CCNA certification. One of the required classes was Introduction to Computer Applications, Web design and I were reunited and this time with proper instruction.
