                                    Treasury Communication System (TCS):

·         UNIX system administrator at the Network Operations Center based in McLean Virginia. Acts as key UNIX based firewall technician.

·         Responsible for more than 30 UNIX based, clustered firewalls interconnecting more than 24 bureaus in support of the United States Department of the Treasury serving 100,000+ customers in 24/7 operations..

·         In charge of managing 22 mail hubs and 8 mail relays processing 3.5 million emails a day using in line spam and virus filter applications.

·         Manages several UNIX based DNS servers crucial to the timely passage of email and web access for the United States Department of the Treasury.

·         Configured and installed 2 RHEL5 syslog-ng log servers to provide real time logging data for 30 Postfix mail servers, 30 Raptor firewalls, and 12 PIX VPN firewalls in support of the Treasury Bureau remote operations.

·         Participated in TCS firewall upgrade. The project migrated 14 Solaris based firewalls to 4 Secure Computing “Sidewinder” firewall appliances. The transition took place with no impact to the more than 100,000 Treasury Department users.

                                    Deployment Health Support Directorate (formerly Office of the Special Assistant for Gulf War Illness):

·         Senior UNIX system administrator at the Deployment Health Support Directorate. Operates as key liaison for application developers and technical support staff. Maintains, patches, and administers UNIX server infrastructure, supporting 6 web services application developers and 2 Oracle database administrators.

·         Responsible for 15 UNIX servers in production, test and development environments. These servers vary from simple web servers to an Enterprise 5500 database server with multiple fiber channel arrays.

·         Deployed VMware ESX server to support a testing and development center, hosting 4 Apache/Tomcat based web application servers; supporting a team of 16 web developers and DBAs.

·         Migrated 15 database, and web applications to new hardware platforms with zero loss of productivity.

·         Completed multiple DITSCAP security evaluations with no high or medium vulnerabilities found.                                     Defense Information Systems Agency:

·         Key member in the deployment of Integrated Imagery and Intelligence (I3) in the European Operational Command Theater (EUCOM). Initiated Sybase technical assessments and issues resolution forums for the I3 system, helping to develop concise integration procedures with the Global Command and Control System (GCCS), Common Operational Environment (COE). I3 is a suite of Imagery and Intelligence processing applications. Using Sybase databases, in the Solaris environment, to link both Intelligence data to Imagery data. Providing enhanced capabilities in Battle Space management in support of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

·         Key source in identifying database installation and configuration issues, resulting in increased database performance and availability. 

·         Exceptionally skilled at identifying and resolving technical systems issues during testing, evaluation, and installation evolutions of more than 60 applications segments.

·         In support of the I3 test and evaluation lab, organized and managed multiple changes to the I3 test bed architecture, maintaining multiple builds across 4 platforms, with minimal system downtime. These builds included both Solaris 2.5.1, and Windows NT based servers and clients, as well as Windows 2000 and Solaris 8 hybrid systems.

·         Developed data backup and restore procedures, utilizing built-in Solaris archiving tools. Also developed automated scripts, to perform automated routine system maintenance and archiving services.

                                    GCCS System Engineer                                                                                  December 1998 – April 2000

 

                                    Defense Information Systems Agency:

·         Personally selected to provide critical system administration support to the GCCS Year 2000 Command Center team because of excellent technical expertise in NT system administration and troubleshooting techniques. Ensured GCCS Windows NT applications operated throughout the transition from 1999 to 2000. Flawless performance, no failures occurred.

·         Bench-marked and conducted system performance analysis on Solaris UNIX and Windows NT platforms, using WinRunner and Rational Suite Enterprise tools. Using this data to evaluate prospective third party products for inclusion into the GCCS system baseline.

·         Conducted Oracle database load testing, on an Enterprise 5000 server. Creating custom SQL scripts that simulated over 1000 users accessing a database at various time intervals. Later using a custom UNIX script, this data was used to assess the proper infrastructure for a global database system (JOPES 2000).

·         Maintained a Sun Enterprise Server Suite, consisting of 1 Sun Enterprise 6000 server, 3 Ultra 60 servers, 2 PowerEdge PC servers, 3 PC clients, and 2 Sun A1000 disk arrays.
