My name is Timothy Charles Windom. I grew up in Franklin County, Virginia near Smith Mountain Lake. I loved being at the lake because of all the fun activities. Summer time was obviously the best because the water was warm and the days were long. My favorite thing to do was go out on the boat with my best friend Sampson and go wakeboarding. We would always trade off who got to do a dock start and then it was off to the cliffs. Before going to the cliffs we would take a few runs each and then go jump off the cliffs. The highest one was probably about 60 or 70 feet off the water, but it's hard to remember now. After several swan dives, back flips and at least one good cannon ball, we would swim back to the boat for another run on the wakeboard. After we were good and tired, we would head back to the house, fire up the grill, have a cold drink and watch the remaining sun drift off behind the trees. Such was life before entering the "real world" of going to college, getting a job being far away from the lake.
I am back in college now working on an IT degree. I worked in retail for many years as a manager but the recent economic decline caused me to be laid off. I took the opportunity to further my education by taking classes in a field that has much more growth potential than retail. I kind of wish I had taken IT classes years ago instead of business management, but at least I will have the management background to go will my future IT degree.
